
The "Pozzomaggiore Choir" was born at the end of 1992 and it presents the typical vocalism of the classical Sardinian tradition: the "Su Cuncordu", with the four voices called Boghe, Mesa 'oghe, Basciu and Contra. This is a highly appreciated style in the world thanks to musical note and voices set up.
The Choir not only presents songs from Sardinian tradition, but it also proposes new sacred and prophan songs.
The Choir has also turned into songs most of the poetries written by Pozzomaggiore and Logudoro inhabitants in order to make them known world widely. The Choir not only sings in local feasts or in folkloristic cerimonies dedicated to Saints, but it also had the honour to sing at the Citè de la Musique in Paris.
The performances recorded by RAI and by other local TV networks have contributed to make the Choir well known in many parts of the world. The Choir has been experiencing a join-venture with the Granitu Majore Choir of Sartene, Corsica, which gives a great contribution to the artistic activity of both the islands realities.
In 1998 the first CD, containing both sacred and prophan songs, was recorded. The CD is entitled Sentimentos and was recorded in San Giorgio's Church in Pozzomaggiore.
Pier Giorgio Masia is the artistic director. He was born in 1955. As a child, he was in love with music and studied the guitar by himself. After having been part of many musical groups, he has joined the Pozzomaggiore Choir, discovering the beauty of the Sardinian composition.
